Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell have won a Grammy — Old Yellow Moon in the category of Best Americana Album. Although the 56th GRAMMY Awards telecast aired Sunday evening, some of the awards were presented during a pre-telecast ceremony in the afternoon. Rodney accepted the award because Emmylou couldn’t be there. Rodney posted on Facebook, “So a basically shy guy wins a Grammy with his dear friend and singing partner, goes up to accept the prize and forgets to thank half the people he wanted to.” (more…)

Here’s an email from Holly Dunn: “I will attempt to give you a brief overview of where I have been and what I’ve been up to since I left Nashville in 2003 and totally retired from the music business. There were many factors in that decision, but mainly, I had been in the business for 25 years, recorded for 3 record labels, and realized I had had all the big success I was going to be allowed to have. I had an epiphany one night while standing back stage at the Grand Ol’ Opry… I thought, do I want to still be standing here singing ‘Daddy’s Hands’ when I’m 80, or do I want to get out while I’m ‘young’ enough and still have the energy to re-invent myself? It wasn’t easy to walk away from a career I had given my heart and soul to, but I haven’t regretted that decision. (more…)

After eight years of publishing my Faron Young/Marty Robbins e-mail newsletter, and talking about Twentieth Century Drifter: The Life of Marty Robbins and Live Fast, Love Hard: The Faron Young Story, it’s time for a change. I’m now publishing a variety of country music news bits, so “keep those cards and letters coming.”

After eight years of publishing my Faron Young/Marty Robbins e-mail newsletter, it’s time for a change. I repeat myself when talking about Faron and Marty, and i don’t have a biography subject to follow Twentieth Century Drifter: The Life of Marty Robbins and Live Fast, Love Hard: The Faron Young Story, so there hasn’t been much to say. My best friend suggested I publish a variety of country music news bits, and I agree that might “keep those cards and letters coming.” Here’s my first effort. Tell me what you think.
